Are you wanting to produce makeovers to your home? | Adorable ...

That?s an excellent place to be. Home improvement can take a lot of work. You need to do some research and educate yourself about home improvement before getting started. If you aren?t sure, check out the tips below.

Pick a color format for the room in question. Using colors that work together will look the best for your dining room or living room. A color wheel displays color choices that complement one another in opposite positions on the wheel; such as red and green, or yellow and blue. Color schemes that use complimentary colors create a better distinction between colors are are visually stimulating.

Instead of a granite slab, consider granite tiles. A simple granite slab can cost you thousands of dollars and be very difficult to move and install properly. Do the same space in tile and the price drops to around 0. You will get that nice granite look without having to break the bank to do so.

Redoing your floors with new tiles can be a great idea, but adding radiant heat tiles will bring a whole new level of comfort to your floors. These tiles give off heat as well as providing a great looking floor. If you follow the instructions, you could even do it yourself. The end result is a project that you can continually add upon in the future or inform the next tenants so that they may achieve some of the work themselves. The first time you enter your bathroom on a cold winter?s morning, you?ll be glad of it!

Don?t waste money on renovations which just don?t fit in. For example, it is not a wise invest to install a sun room with no insulation in the colder climates. Cater to what is desired, and do not try to go beyond the means of what the climate calls for.

Get an electrical outlet put into the cabinet on top of the microwave?s future home. This will give you a place to plug your microwave in that is not visible. An easy thing like that will eliminate hanging cords in the kitchen.

When you finally make it to the kitchen, install some new cabinets and tie the entire house together with a bang. Mark and locate any wall stud prior to installing these so you can figure out where screws can go. Stud finders make the process easy and are very inexpensive.

Try installing LED lights inside your closet areas. They are available at hardware stores, online and even at dollar stores near by. Some types of LED lights require one or two screws to install. Yet others have attachable pads to stick on. The lights turn off when the closet door is closed and light up when the closet door is opened!

Shutters are a great investment for your residence. If you live in an area which gets many storms, this can protect your home from damage, too.

It?s crucial that you regularly replace air filters. It will keep the air in your home healthier, and it?s good for your air conditioning system. A lot of service repair calls are due to people not changing their air filters.

An important thing to always keep in the forefront of your mind is your budget. By having a budget, you can make sure that the price of your home renovation project is reasonable for the home and surrounding neighborhood. Create a detailed budget and follow it as you work on your project.

If your home improvement project involves you needing some of the street, be sure to give your neighbors warning. Deliveries and equipment during home improvement will often block parts of the road. If you let your neighbors know about this, they will appreciate your consideration and won?t mind the inconvenience so much.

If you are looking to increase the value of your home with some home improvements, and do not know where to start, consider investing some time with a contractor to give you some ideas. They know the most profitable areas of the home to improve and can offer suggestions on what to do with your own home.

When installing cabinets, lots of home builders keep construction costs down by installing just cabinets with no attached hardware. However, you can visit a home improvement store for cabinet knobs, handles and drawer pulls. There are also online options. You can choose from everything, from modern knobs to vintage looking pulls and designer hardware, all of which can be easily installed in a few minutes.

Store material that you?re using for building between floor joists or ceiling rafters. You can easily store two by fours or pieces of molding in these spaces. All you have to do is nail furring strips along rafters or exposed floor joists and slide in the material that you want stored.

Taking on a remodeling job doesn?t have to be intimidating and difficult. Take the time you need and plan well to make the project move smoothly. Take these ideas to heart and begin working on your house.

Create A Rip Van Winkle Portfolio With These 4 Stocks

There is a difference between trading in stocks and investing in them but too often they get confused as being the same thing. Trading is usually done in a short time period, much like the day traders of the dot-com era, whereas investors are supposed to take a longer term view.

The problem is that too many investors think like traders and get sucked into thinking about stocks in the short term.

Warren Buffett, one of the great long term investors of all time once said:

"I never attempt to make money on the stock market. I buy on the assumption that they could close the market the next day and not reopen it for five years. As far as you are concerned, the stock market does not exist. Ignore it. Much success can be attributed to inactivity. Most investors cannot resist the temptation to constantly buy and sell."

Could you buy and hold a stock for 5 years without checking to see what it is doing? Could you ignore it completely?

Warren Buffett's five year rule reminds me of the Washington Irving story about Rip Van Winkle. Irving described a man who goes up to the top of a mountain, falls asleep, and awakes 20 years later to find that life has turned upside down.

Rip Van Winkle doesn't recognize anyone. His wife is dead. His small New York town is no longer controlled by the British but has a new government with George Washington at its helm.

The Rip Van Winkle Strategy

What if you were to pick stocks as if you were Rip Van Winkle? It would be a strategy where an investor buys a company with the belief that he could "wake up" five years later and that investment would still be sound.

I can hear you thinking, "that's impossible to do. Too much can change in those 5 years."

Sure, Borders is no longer in operation and Best Buy is on the ropes. Neither of those companies would have been good investments in a Rip Van Winkle strategy five years ago.

But there are plenty of other companies that have stood the test of time and are likely to not just survive, but thrive, in the coming years.

4 Stocks For a Rip Van Winkle Portfolio

What do these four stocks have in common? They all are businesses with an edge.

1. Agrium (AGU - Analyst Report)

If Rip Van Winkle could choose a stock to wake up to years later, Agrium would be it. We all have to eat, right?

Agrium produces all three of the major fertilizers as well as micronutrients and plant protection products. It is the largest direct-to-grower retailer in North and South America, selling seeds and irrigation products.

2013 EPS Growth: -0.12%
Zacks #2 Rank (Buy)

2. The TJX Companies, Inc. (TJX - Analyst Report)

A retailer might seem a strange choice for an investor who is looking out five years because the sector can be volatile but the TJX Companies have been growing earnings in the double digits for the last 3 years and has been operating its low priced model since 1956. It operates TJ Maxx, Marshalls and home furnishing stores like HomeGoods in the United States, Canada and Europe.

P/E = 18.1
F2013 EPS Growth: 23.9%
F2014 EPS Growth: 11.4%
Zacks #2 Rank (Buy)

3. The Madison Square Garden Company (MSG - Snapshot Report)

Do you think Madison Square Garden is going anywhere in the next five years? The Madison Square Garden Company also operates other famous venues including Radio City Music Hall, the Forum and the Chicago Theatre. It also owns the New York Knicks and New York Rangers sports franchises. Additionally, the company manages a media division which consists of web, digital and television networks.

Owning a piece of the Garden isn't cheap, however.

P/E = 31
F2012 EPS Growth: -4%
F2013 EPS Growth: 24.7%
Zacks Rank #3 (Hold)

4. Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (CMG - Analyst Report)

Chipotle is in the midst of worldwide expansion. It currently only operates Mexican casual dining restaurants in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and France. In five years, its expansion is likely to continue.

Chipotle is an aggressive growth stock with a big P/E but with large double digit growth projections to match.

P/E = 37
2012 EPS Growth: 33.3%
2013 EPS Growth: 21.2%
Zacks #3 Rank (Hold)

Successful Weight Loss With Low Carb Diet

Losing weight is an aim for countless people and everybody is looking for the fast and simple way to lose weight. There are lots of unusual diets out there including low-carbohydrate diets, and the fact is that the majority of them will accomplish weight loss if they are followed properly, This does not mean constantly doing what the diet states every moment of every day. What is more prominent is how you negotiate with the unavoidable function when you eat too much or feast on diets that are not on the programme. If you can avoid this thing and stick to the plan without giving yourself a hard time, you are distinctly possible to succeed.

It is also significant to choose a diet that you can comfortably go with. Low-carb diets suit lots of individuals since the rules are quite natural. As the name indicates, the diet includes of preventing or limiting nourishment that are high in carbohydrates. These involve bread, spaghetti, potatoes, rice and other cereals. Sugar is also rich in carbohydrate, which should be also avoided. Once you see what these foods are, it is an uncomplicated matter to prefer dishes that ignore them.

Most critique of low carbohydrate dieting is based on the actuality that the person will obtain most of their regular calories from meat, dairy products and other high-fat food products. This can push you to high cholesterol and other troubles associated to a high consumption of saturated fats. Medical guidance is recommended before beginning this kind of diet. Occasionally, weight loss is positive in the early stages, but individuals cannot handle the limitations in the longer term and begin to drift from the diet.

One of the difficulties that lots of people have with low carb dieting is the riddance of bread and pasta. No more toast, noodles or pizza pie, Many of the foods that are fastest to get ready are based on carbohydrates such as french fries, sandwiches, pasta and sauce. Beverage and other alcoholic drinks are also high in carbs too. It is right that alcohol is mostly restricted on any diet, since it is high in calories and almost zero in nutritional value, but low-carb diets put particular attention on this.

However, there are lots of foods that can be consumed in a low-carb diet. If you like meat, you will enjoy the opportunity to eat beef, chicken and other animal meat. The demand if this diet is clear from the length of time that they remain on the best-seller lists. It is just a topic of what pleases you. Low carb dieting still works for the majority of people.

China trade minister to visit Canada; could mention CNOOC bid

OTTAWA, Sept 23 ? Chinese Commerce Minister Chen Deming will visit Canada as Ottawa deliberates whether to approve a landmark US$15.1 billion (RM45.7 billion) takeover of oil producer Nexen Inc by state-owned Chinese oil company CNOOC Ltd.

CNOOC said it did not expect Chen to raise the sensitive takeover bid during talks with the Canadian government. Canada China Business Council president Peter Harder, however, said he would not be surprised if Chen mentioned it in a speech to his group on Tuesday.

Chen Deming: CNOOC bid hangs over visit. ? Reuters file pic

Although Canada is seeking substantial foreign investment in its oil and gas industry, the CNOOC move is raising concern inside cabinet, where some members are wary of letting a Chinese state-owned enterprise buy up domestic assets.

Industry ministry officials are looking closely at the bid to determine whether it is of net benefit to Canada.

Separately, Canada?s spy service said some foreign state-owned enterprises could pose a threat to national security. It did not mention China by name.

Canadian Trade Minister Ed Fast gave little away when asked about a planned meeting with Chen in the next few days.

?I do expect it will be a productive meeting as we move the Canada-China relationship forward,? he told reporters on Friday.

Nexen ? whose shareholders voted to accept the CNOOC deal on Thursday ? said it was unaware of Chen?s visit.

A spokesman for CNOOC said it did not expect Chen and Fast to discuss the bid ?because this is transaction between two commercial companies, not a government to government affair?. The Chinese embassy was not immediately available for comment.

China?s Ministry of Commerce is responsible for authorising investments of more than US$100 million by state-owned enterprises.

On the Canada China Business Council lunch in Toronto, Harder noted Chen had spoken about the CNOOC bid in a speech in Beijing.

?I think he would express the view that the transaction should be looked at as a business transaction and be seen on its merits and that China would hope that that would be the case,? Harder told Reuters in a phone interview.

He said that in Chen?s speech in Beijing, he had mentioned a foreign investment promotion and protection agreement Canada and China signed this month as well as China?s willingness to broaden economic relations between the two countries.

Canada says it needs C$630 billion (RM1.9 trillion) in investment in its energy sector over the next decade. It is also promoting the idea of oil sales to China.

Critics of the CNOOC deal point out that China is running a large trade surplus with Canada. They also complain Canadian natural resources companies find it hard to operate in China.

Canada?s spy service, in a report issued on Thursday, said some bids by state-owned enterprises to gain control off strategic sectors of the Canadian economy could threaten national security interests.

?The foreign entities might well exploit that control in an effort to facilitate illegal transfers of technology or to engage in other espionage and other foreign interference activities,? the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) said.

?CSIS expects that national security concerns related to foreign investment in Canada will continue to materialise.?

Pressed about the report, Fast said Canada always took security into account when negotiating economic deals. ?It would be our top priority to ensure Canada remains safe and secure,? he said.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said last month that public opinion would play a role in determining whether to approve the bid or not.

The official opposition New Democratic Party says it is concerned about a Chinese state-owned firm buying what they call a strategic Canadian asset. Nexen controls less than 5 per cent of the crude-rich tar sands in the western province of Alberta, one of the world?s biggest oil deposits, where its Canadian properties are concentrated. ? Reuters

Killers battle to top of UK album charts

LONDON (Reuters) - U.S. rock band The Killers notched up their fourth UK number one album on Sunday after storming straight to the top of the charts.

The Las Vegas band's "Battle Born" became the third-fastest selling album of the year as it edged out another new entry "The Truth About Love" by U.S. singer Pink, according to the Official Charts Company.

Irish rock band The Script dropped a place to third with "Number 3", while last week's chart topper "Coexist" by English pop band The xx, was in fourth.

British singer Emeli Sande was unchanged in fifth place with "Our Version Of Events", with the 25th anniversary edition of Michael Jackson's seminal 1987 release "Bad" entering the charts in sixth place.

The Script stayed at number one in the singles chart with "Hall of Fame", a collaboration with the American rapper will.i.am, keeping ahead of "Say Nothing" by south London rapper Example.

South Korean pop star Psy, real name Park Jai-sang, was in third with "Gangnam Style", the video for which has been a massive global Internet phenomenon attracting some 253 million hits on YouTube thanks mainly to Psy's horse riding dance.

With sales rocketing weeks before the planned UK release date, the K-pop star is tipped to take the top spot next week.

U.S. R&B singer Ne-Yo fell to fourth with "Let Me Love You", while Pink was fifth with "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)".

Man jumps off Bronx Zoo monorail, mauled by tiger

(AP) ? A visitor to the Bronx Zoo leaped from an elevated monorail train on Friday, plummeted over a fence into an exhibit and was mauled by a tiger, police and zoo officials said.

The man was alone with the 400-pound beast for about 10 minutes before being rescued, zoo officials said. He suffered bites and punctures on his arms, legs, shoulders and back and broke an arm and a leg.

The attack happened at around 3 p.m. in the Wild Asia exhibit, where a train with open sides takes visitors over the Bronx River and through a forest, where they glide along the top edge of a fence, past elephants, deer and a tiger enclosure.

Passengers aren't strapped in on the ride, and the 25-year-old man apparently jumped out of his train car, with a leap powerful enough to clear the perimeter fence.

The man was attacked by an 11-year-old male tiger that has been at the zoo for three years. The zoo's staff used a fire extinguisher to chase the tiger off, and the man was instructed to roll under an electrified wire to get to safety, zoo director Jim Breheny said. Zookeepers then called the tiger into a holding area.

The man was conscious and talking after the mauling, Breheny said.

"If not for the quick response by our staff and their ability to perform well in emergency situations, the outcome would have been very different," he said.

Police said the man was hospitalized in critical condition.

The Bronx Zoo, one of the nation's largest, sprawls over 265 acres and contains hundreds of animals, many in habitats meant to resemble natural settings. Its exhibits include Tiger Mountain, Congo Gorilla Forest and World of Reptiles.

The tiger did nothing wrong and will not be euthanized, zoo officials said. It was back in a holding area where it usually sleeps at night.

Market mood sours after downbeat economic news

LONDON (AP) ? The mood in financial markets turned sour Thursday after a round of disappointing economic news prompted investors to check their recent enthusiasm.

Figures from Europe, Japan and China reminded investors that the world's economy is struggling, though a positive bond auction from Spain helped limit the retreat in markets.

Among the sobering news for investors was a survey in Europe pointing to a deepening recession, figures from Japan that showed the country's powerhouse export sector was continuing to suffer and a private survey of manufacturers in China that showed activity fell again in September, though at a slightly slower pace than August.

"These data suggest global growth is yet to turn the corner, mitigating some of the positive market impact from the recent policy actions by the European Central Bank, Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan," said Vassili Serebriakov, an analyst at Wells Fargo Bank.

In the wake of the figures, stocks fell and the euro dropped below $1.30 for the first time in a week.

In Europe, the FTSE 100 index of leading British shares closed down 0.57 percent at 5,854 while Germany's DAX fell slightly on the day, 0.02 percent, to 7,389. The CAC-40 in France was 0.6 percent lower at 3,509.

In the U.S., the Dow Jones industrial average was up slightly in midmorning trading, 0.02 percent, at 13,500 while the broader S&P 500 index fell 0.4 percent to 1,455.

Over recent weeks, stocks had spiked higher and the euro had jumped above $1.30 for the first time since the spring ? signs of increased optimism.

Markets were driven by a series of apparent breakthroughs in European leaders' efforts to solve the debt crisis and another monetary stimulus from the U.S. Federal Reserve.

But this week, markets have largely treaded water despite further monetary easing from the Bank of Japan and continued easing in Europe's debt crisis, evidenced by a stabilization in the borrowing rates of euro countries like Italy and Spain.

"There have been clear signs this week that the shine has come off the summer's boost in optimism," said Jane Foley, an analyst at Rabobank International. "That said, these corrections remain modest in light of the moves registered since July."

Alongside stocks, the euro was also giving up some of its recent gains, trading 0.79 percent lower at $1.2944. It received little support from the news that Spain raised ?4.8 billion ($6.2 billion) in a debt auction Thursday that saw strong demand and a drop in a benchmark interest rate.

Earlier, the losses in Asia were more acute than in Europe, largely because they enjoyed a stronger advance Wednesday in the immediate aftermath of the Bank of Japan's easing.

Japan's Nikkei 225 index dropped 1.6 percent to close at 9,086.98 while South Korea's Kospi shed 0.9 percent to 1,990.33. Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 1.2 percent to 20,590.92.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index tumbled 2.1 percent to 2,024.84, the lowest closing in more than three years. The Shenzhen Composite Index lost almost 3 percent to 840.21.

Oil prices fluctuated in the wake of the economic figures, with the benchmark New York rate 20 cents lower at $92.50 a barrel.

Judge denies request to stop anti-Muslim film clip

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? An actress who appeared in an anti-Muslim film that sparked violence in the Middle East lost her legal challenge on Thursday to have the 14-minute trailer taken down from YouTube.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Luis Lavin rejected the request from Cindy Lee Garcia because she wasn't able to produce any agreement she had with the makers of "Innocence of Muslims" and the man behind the film hadn't been served with a copy of her lawsuit.

Garcia's lawsuit aimed to have the video removed from YouTube's site that has been linked to protests that continue to rage across the Middle East and killed at least 30 people in seven countries, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya.

Garcia's attorney, Cris Armenta, told reporters Thursday that her client plans to return to court in three weeks with more evidence to bolster her case.

While it's unclear how Lavin's decision would be interpreted outside of the U.S., the lawsuit had little chance of succeeding because of a federal law that protects third parties from liability for content they handle, legal experts said.

"From the beginning this was a Hail Mary pass," said Jeremiah Reynolds, a Los Angeles attorney who specializes in intellectual property and First Amendment cases. "I think they hoped the judge would have enough sympathy for this woman to have him take the video down."

Garcia on Wednesday filed a lawsuit for fraud and slander against Internet search giant Google and Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the man behind the video who has gone into hiding since it rose to prominence last week.

She claimed she was duped by Nakoula and that the script she saw referenced neither Muslims nor Prophet Muhammad. She also said her voice had been dubbed.

Her lawsuit mirrors similar claims made by those who said they were fooled by actor Sacha Baron Cohen during the making of "Borat" and "Bruno." The British comedian was unsuccessfully sued by some who appeared in his movie who weren't familiar with his outlandish characters.

"Although this is a much more serious situation, the (legal) analysis should be the same," Reynolds said. "It's an act that is protected by the First Amendment."

YouTube, which is owned by Google, has refused requests to remove the film by both Garcia and the White House. However, the company has blocked users in Saudi Arabia, Libya and Egypt from viewing the clip as well as Indonesia and India because it violates laws in those countries.

Cindy Cohen, the legal director for San Francisco-based Electronic Frontier Foundation, said Garcia does have a claim against the filmmaker but not against Google.

"The law protects Google here because they aren't the producers of the film," Cohen said. "You don't want a situation where the host is responsible for the content. Then nobody would ever be a host."

Garcia's lawsuit contends that keeping the film online violates her right of publicity, invades her privacy rights and that post-filming dialogue changes cast her in a false light.

"I think we need to take it (the film) off because it will continue to cause more problems," she said. "I think it's demoralizing, degrading."

Garcia said she has been threatened at least eight times and has called the FBI but she hasn't heard back from federal agents.

Armenta argued in court that her client was used a puppet to make the film, and she was clearly defrauded and lied to by the people behind the movie.

"She did not sign on to be a bigot," Armenta said.

Timothy Alger, the lawyer representing Google at Thursday's hearing, said the Internet company shouldn't be responsible for what transpired between Garcia and the filmmakers. He said no matter how someone views the content "it is something of widespread debate."

Garcia could seek to have a judge grant an injunction against Nakoula to order him to remove the video, but it wouldn't accomplish what Garcia set out to do.

"It would have little to no effect because other websites are showing the film," Reynolds said. "It would be a moot point."

(AP) ? The numbers say there isn't much difference with replacement officials. Comments from players and coaches say otherwise.

As the public outrage grows louder over calls and non-calls, delays in doling out penalties or rampant indecision by the replacements, statistics show strong similarities between this year's number of penalties and last year's flags thrown by the guys who are currently locked out.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello says, "We are going to do everything possible to raise the level of performance of the current officials" through training tapes, conference calls and meetings. The league does that with the regular officials, too.

How Auto Repair Shops Maintain Your Car Suspension in ...

Last updated 15 hours ago

To understand how Auto Repair Shops maintain your car suspension system?in Woodstock GA, Cherokee County, and the Towne Lake Area,?take some time to learn about the system?s most essential components. ?Driving your car would be one bumpy ride if you didn?t have a working suspension system. Your car wouldn?t last long either without suspension.?

Coil Springs

Coil springs are the most common type of spring system found in front and rear suspension systems. These heavy-duty springs coil themselves around the axis of the chassis. When your wheels and tires hit an uneven part of the road the coil springs absorb the movement of the wheels.

Dampers

Once the suspension coil springs accept the extra energy from the wheel, they need a little help dissipating that energy. Springs don?t dispel energy fast enough on their own; they tend to oscillate for quite a while after being depressed. Dampers accept the excess energy from the spring and dampen it quickly to get ready for the next shock. Here?s how dampers do it: the damper, or shock absorber, takes the kinetic energy from the shock and turns it into heat. Inside the damper is a hydraulic fluid which quickly dissipates heat and absorbs the shock.

Struts

Struts also work as shock absorbers. Mounted inside the coil spring, struts provide more weight and structural support than dampers. While dampers slow down the speed of the shock, struts control how the structure of the car itself handles the movement.

Anti-Sway Bars

Of course, not all pot holes and pavement obstacles are created equal, and potholes or road obstacles usually affect one side of the car more than the other. That?s where anti-sway bars come in. Anti-sway bars shift weight to the non-affected wheels of the vehicle when the opposite wheels take a dip or a hike. This keeps the other side of the vehicle connected to the road at all times in order to maintain stability and control.

Richest 400 Americans' net worth up 13 percent

Jim Urquhart / REUTERS

Bill Gates, the chairman of Microsoft Corp, topped the list for the 19th year in a row with $66 billion, up $7 billion from a year earlier.

By Reuters

The net worth of the richest Americans grew by 13 percent in the past year to $1.7 trillion, Forbes magazine said on Wednesday, and a familiar cast of characters once again populated the top of the magazine's annual list of the U.S. uber-elite, including Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Larry Ellison and the Koch brothers.

The average net worth of the 400 wealthiest Americans rose to a record $4.2 billion, the magazine said.

Collectively, this group's net worth is the equivalent of one-eighth of the entire U.S. economy, which stood at $13.56 billion in real terms according to the latest government data. But the 13 percent growth in the wealth of the richest Americans far outpaced that of the economy overall, helping widen the chasm between rich and poor.

Bill Gates, the chairman of Microsoft Corp, topped the list for the 19th year in a row with $66 billion, up $7 billion from a year earlier.

Warren Buffett, chairman and chief executive of insurance conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway Inc, stood second with $46 billion, followed by Larry Ellison, head of software maker Oracle Corp, with $41 billion; and the Koch brothers, Charles and David, who run the energy and chemicals conglomerate that bears their name, Koch Industries, were tied for fourth with $31 billion, Forbes said.

The ranks of the top five were unchanged from a year earlier.

Two notable names dropped from the top 10, however. Casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, also active in conservative political causes, fell to the 12 spot from No. 8 last year, and financier George Soros dropped five spots to No. 12 from the No. 7 position one year ago.

The disappointing stock market debut of Facebook Inc also took a toll on the fortune of its founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg. His net worth fell by nearly half to $9.4 billion, and he slid to the No. 36 slot from No. 14 a year ago, Forbes said

Who made it on Forbes' list of the 400-richest Americans? Randall Lane, Forbes, discusses.

Christmas Creep coming to your inbox earlier this year

By Ben Popken, NBC News contributor

?Christmas Creep? is the term for how retailers seem to keep bumping up the day they start promoting Christmas each year. It's not just for stores that barely have the decorative pumpkins out before they bring in the Santas, now the Christmas Creep is in your inbox.

Fifteen percent of top online retailers have already started the holidays in their email campaigns as of?September 6, according to the 2012 Retail Email Guide to the Holiday season study released by Responsys. That's up from 11 percent at this same time in the past two years. And once they start perking up, they only increase exponentially. By Halloween, expect your inbox to be quite spooked by the Christmas Creep. It will be fully haunted by Thanksgiving.

Online retailers that began emailing in October last year have already launched their campaigns, said Christopher Donald, a strategist for the Inbox Group email marketing agency.

Retailers are constantly trying to edge each other out to be the one who gets to the shopper's pocketbook first. The earlier you can grab shoppers, the more they'll spend with you if you can grab them before the pursestrings get tight as the holidays get closer, said Donald. This leads to a veritable arms race with retailers emailing earlier and earlier each year.

If you're sick of it all and want to trim back the Christmas Creep's visits from your inbox, make sure to be selective when giving out your main email address to companies. And if you must give it out, consider using a disposable one, like one offered by mailinator.com. Gmail users can also use this handy trick.

Email marketers believe, however, that people are happy to see the Christmas Creep. ?You might see a small amount of people annoyed,? said Donald, but ?most people think, hey, I can get these great discounts even earlier.?

Believe what you want, spam man ?- we'll be clicking ?unsubscribe.?

Anxiety Depression

Anxiety Depression

http://bit.ly/4JRWtb anxiety depression, -when you start to experience anxious thoughts, it is very important not to force the thoughts away. Let the thoughts in. The more comfortable you can become with them, the better. These thoughts will never go away fully but what you can learn is to change your reaction to them. By changing your reaction to the anxious thoughts you become free of them. Once you establish a new way of reacting to the thoughts it does not matter if you have them or not. Your reaction is what defines the whole experience (and that applies to almost everything). Everybody experiences fleeting thoughts that many would consider scary or crazy. The difference between most people and somebody who gets caught up in them, is that the average person sees them for exactly what they are, fleeting anxious thoughts, and casually ignores them. The anxious person is at a disadvantage as they already have a certain level of anxiety in their system. The thoughts easily spark feelings of further anxiety which builds into a cycle of fear. You break the cycle by changing how you react to the fearful thought. Here is an example of how to approach this: You are enjoying the way your day is going but then all of sudden a fearful thought comes to mind. Before you would react with anxiety to the idea and then try to force that thought out of your mind. This time, however, say: ?That?s a fear of X. I could worry and even obsess over that but this time I?m going to do something different. I?m not going to react to it. I?m also not going to try and stop it either. I?m just going to label the thought and not react.? Then the thought comes again with more intensity and possibly with new ?scary? angles you never considered. When this happens you do exactly the same. As if you were observing a cloud passing overhead, you simply -Observe it, -Label it (fear of whatever), then -Watch it as it passes by with no judgment. then -Move your attention on to what you were doing. Observe, Label, Watch, Move on See the anxious thought for what it really is: -one of the thousands of fleeting sane and insane thoughts every one of us experiences daily. If you are a more indoors type of person then instead of thinking of the thoughts like clouds passing in the sky, you might try imagining a large cinema screen and the anxious thoughts are projected out onto the screen in front of you. Play around with this approach. Find what works for you. The key thing to remember is to: Observe, Label, Watch, Move on By practicing this approach you gradually stop reacting with fear to the thought and you learn to treat it as nothing more than an odd peculiarity.
